Trading Card Group Break Rules
1. Team Assignment
-
Cards are assigned based on the team logo or name shown on the card.
-
If the card does not show a team logo or name, assignment will follow this order:
-
If the player is currently active, the card goes to the team they are currently rostered on.
-
If retired, the card goes to the team they spent the majority of their career with.
-
-
For unlicensed cards (e.g., Panini Baseball), where only the city is mentioned:
-
The card goes to the team currently playing in that city.
-
If multiple teams share the same city (e.g., LA, NY), the card will be awarded to the team the player actually plays or played for in that city.
-
2. Player Assignment (Pick Your Player / Random Player Breaks)
-
In Pick Your Player (PYP) breaks, cards are assigned to the participant who purchased that specific player. All cards featuring that player are theirs, regardless of team shown.
-
In Random Player breaks:
-
A full player list will be randomized via Random.org using the dice roller to determine the number of randomizations to be made, and matched to the participant list in order.
-
Participants are responsible for reviewing the checklist and list format prior to entry.
-
-
If a card features a player not listed, it will go to a designated “Other Players” spot if available, or be randomized to all participants if not.
3. Hit Draft, Random Hit & Serial Number Breaks
-
In Hit Draft or Random Hit breaks:
-
Cards will be revealed first, then randomized using Random.org and the dice roller to determine the number of randomizations to be made, along with the participant list to match hits to entrants.
-
In hit drafts, the draft order will be randomized using Random.org and the dice roller to determine the number of randomizations to be made, and selections will be made in that order (snake format may apply if stated).
-
-
In Serial Number Breaks:
-
Cards are assigned based on the left-most digit of the card’s serial number. Example: 17/99 goes to spot #7.
-
If a card is not serial numbered, it will be randomized to all participants unless otherwise stated.
-
Redemptions will go to the 0 spot if undetermined or be handled based on public checklist info.
-
4. Multi-Player or Multi-Team Cards
-
Cards featuring multiple players or teams will be randomized via Random.org.
-
Each represented team or player receives one entry per spot owned.
-
The random will be conducted using Random.org and the dice roller to determine the number of randomizations to be made, and the top result wins.
-
All multi-party cards are randomized live or with documented proof.
5. Redemptions
-
Redemptions are assigned according to the official manufacturer checklist.
-
If the checklist is not available, the card follows the same logic as outlined in the relevant section (team, player, or serial number).
-
Mystery redemptions are held until clarified by the manufacturer.
6. Panini Points / Non-Player Items
-
Panini Points, Wild Cards, or generic inserts (e.g., promotional cards) will be randomized to all participants using Random.org (5 rolls).
7. Unsold or Unclaimed Spots
-
Cards pulled for unsold, unclaimed, or unpaid spots become the property of the breaker or may be randomized to active participants.
8. Shipping & Condition
-
All hits, numbered cards, inserts, and rookies will be shipped unless otherwise stated.
-
Base cards may or may not be included depending on break type.
-
Cards are handled with care. The breaker is not responsible for factory defects or transit damage unless shipping insurance is purchased.
9. Video & Randomization
-
All breaks are streamed live and recorded for transparency.
-
Randomizations are performed live or documented and screenshots/video are provided in recaps where applicable.
10. Payment & Participation
-
Payment must be received before the break begins.
-
Unpaid spots may be resold or reassigned at the breaker's discretion.
-
By joining a break, all participants agree to these rules and acknowledge the element of chance inherent in group breaking as well as our business terms of service.
11. Group Break Filler Rules
Filler spots give you a chance to win a team or spot in our breaks at a fraction of the full price. Please read the rules carefully before entering.
📌 How It Works
-
Spots Available: Each filler will list a set number of spots (e.g. 10 spots total).
-
Cost Per Spot: The cost per spot is displayed on the filler listing.
-
Filler Prize(s): The winner(s) will receive one or more specified team(s) or break spots in the main break.
-
Drawing Method: Winners are determined by a random draw using random.org or a similar certified randomizer.
🎲 Randomization
-
All spots will be randomized using Random.org and the dice roller to determine the number of randomizations to be made to determine the winner(s).
-
The list of participants and the randomized outcome will be shown live or posted publicly after the draw.
🏆 Winning Spots
-
The number of winning spots (e.g., top 1, top 3, etc.) will be specified in the filler.
-
Winning entries will be inserted directly into the main break under the winner’s name.
- All non-winning spots will receive a random prize as selected by the business with their next shipment.
⏱ Break Timing
-
The filler must be full and paid before the draw takes place.
-
The main break will proceed once all filler and main spots are filled.
💳 Payment & Entry
-
Payment must be received to secure your spot. Unpaid spots may be forfeited or sold to another participant.
-
All sales are final. No refunds unless the filler or break is cancelled.
🔄 Filler Format Variations
We may use different types of fillers:
-
Top Spot Wins: Only the top spot after randomization wins.
-
Multi-Win Fillers: Multiple winners receive prizes in descending order.
-
Mini to Major: Win entry into a larger filler or the main break.
Details for the specific filler format will always be included in the filler description.
⚠️ Important Notes
-
By entering a filler, you agree to these rules and understand the odds of winning.
-
All decisions made by The Hobby Australia Cards & Collectables are final.
